Integrity: Uncompromising, consistent commitment to what is right
Commitment to what is right + being honest with yourself and others = integrity
A person with integrity is consistently characterized by honesty, faithfulness, and virtue, regardless of the circumstance. Their actions are consistent with what they say they value.
Integrity Requires:
- SELF-AWARENESS: We cannot accurately communicate who we are and what we value without self-awareness because we cannot express what we don’t know.
- INTERNAL HONESTY: Honesty with others begins by being honest with ourselves.
- FORTITUDE: Firmness of spirit enables us to resist fear of discomfort so that we can live according to our values even when it is costly or unpleasant.
“Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.” – Lao Tzu
