Kindness: Demonstrating gentleness and warmth toward others
Genuine care and compassion for people + a gentle approach to interacting with others = kindness
People known for kindness are compassionate, tender, tolerant, understanding, and gentle. They are approachable and attempt to treat others as they desire to be treated.
Kindness requires:
- Willing initiative: Kindness looks ahead and sees what is needed, willingly taking the first step toward helping other people.
- Sensitivity: Many times, our desire to be right pushes us toward being more aggressive and insensitive in our conversations.
- Helpfulness: Kindness ascertains that what you do benefits the target of your kindness.
“Kindness is the language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” – Mark Twain
