Unmotivated people rely on external stimuli to inspire action and they may appear lazy and lethargic without it. People lacking motivation may be easily dissuaded from action and interaction with them may be discouraging and disheartening.

Unmotivated people struggle to create their own opportunities and adventures. There are basically two different types of people in the world: people who look for every chance to be a victim and those who are motivated to rise above any circumstance and situation to make something beautiful out of their difficulties.

Motivation is a choice; it’s not an emotion.

Enemies of Motivation

  • INSECURITY – Even when you are excited to go forward, the desire to stay safe can prevent you from accomplishing goals.
  • LACK OF AUTONOMY – Research shows that having the autonomy to decide what we do, when we do it, and who we do it with is core to sustaining motivation and productivity.
  • INTERNAL VALUES CONFLICT – Internal conflict sidetracks motivation, and sorting out priorities helps to sustain motivation.
