The 48 Lodestar principles are character qualities that apply to every area of life.

Forgiveness, for example, is essential at work, at home, at school, at church, everywhere. At work we need to forgive people who have been rude or unaccommodating to us. By choosing to forgive, our minds stay focused on our jobs instead of retribution we may desire.

At home or school, forgiveness is showing love and patience to our children when they make mistakes. The person or persons in charge, such as parents and teachers, should model forgiveness by correcting the faults or wrongdoings without holding grudges. By doing so, we teach our children or students this principle. When our children have unforgiveness, it usually stems from their learned behavior in the home. And the unforgiveness will extend to their relationships beyond home and school, affecting their ability to relate to others in church and the community. Therefore, learning to forgive is essential for developing and maintaining successful personal and professional relationships throughout life.

Forgiveness is just one example of the 48 character principles that will equip us for life. No amount of talent will carry us if our character is flawed. –Paul Weaver
