Loyalty: Consistently demonstrating support for someone or something.
Loyal people will be known for their devotion to others and for their adherence to commitments and promises. They value fidelity and are reliable in their daily lives and interactions.
dedication to people & commitments + being supportive & dependable = loyalty
Loyalty requires:
- Boundaries- Some object to loyalty because it can be problematic. Loyalty is not blind to wrongdoing, but loyalty is being kind enough to share the truth. It is perfectly acceptable to confront others for their own good and the good of others.
- Maturity- When people are in close relationships, disagreements are possible. Loyalty should not keep you from thinking for yourself, and being accepting of others when you disagree is a sign of maturity. Agree to disagree and give others and yourself space when you need it.
- Going the Extra Mile- Loyalty requires doing more than the bare minimum. When you are truly loyal, you want the person/organization to whom you are loyal to benefit because you support them. You willingly do more than is required, and you exceed expectations when you are able.
Loyalty means I will be with you whether you are right or wrong, but if you are wrong, I will tell you and will help you make it right.” -Anonymous
