Unkind people may have reputations for being harsh in spirit and action, intolerant of others, merciless, and thoughtless. They care little about the effect of their actions on others, and they may be actively cruel towards people and animals.

ENEMIES OF KINDNESS:

  • DEPERSONALIZATION: Unkind people are cynical and do not see people as individuals. They rely on stereotypes and label people negatively before they even speak.
  • STRESS: Unkind people feel frazzled and overwhelmed most of the time. They often overlook and speak harshly to others. Unkind people may avoid eye contact to avoid being trapped by empathy.
  • A HOSTILE WORLD: Unkind people may see the world as a “dog-eat-dog” reality and refuse to get close to other people. They see others as just wanting a handout.

Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting … don’t only give your care but give your heart as well.” – Mother Teresa
