A mentor is one of the most advantageous resources for any of us who desire to grow. Older, wiser mentors who encourage us to live smarter and grow ourselves can keep us from all kinds of trouble. The first ingredient for learning from a mentor, from a book, or by any other means is to have the principle of teachability. Without that insatiable desire to learn and grow, we must rely solely on ourselves and make all our own mistakes in order to learn.

All the people around us know something better than we know, and we should strive to learn from them. Be teachable and learn all you can because it is the pathway to wisdom and discernment. It is a lifetime journey, and it is much more rewarding than believing we know it all. -Paul Weaver
