Unmotivated people rely on external stimuli to inspire action, and they may appear lazy and lethargic without it. People lacking motivation may be easily dissuaded from action, and interaction with them may be discouraging and disheartening.

Unmotivated people rarely create their own opportunities and adventures. There are people who look for every chance to be a victim, and there are people who rise above any situation or circumstance to make something beautiful out of their difficulties.

Enemies of motivation

  • Insecurity – Even if we are excited to move forward, the desire to stay safe can prevent us from accomplishing our goals.
  • Lack of Autonomy – Having the autonomy to decide what you will do, when you will do it, how you will do it, and who you will do it with is the core to sustaining motivation and productivity in creative work.
  • Internal Values Conflict – We must sort out our personal priorities to sustain motivation.

Motivation always starts with the leader. There are no motivated teams that are led by unmotivated people.
