People lacking thoroughness may be sloppy with details, indifferent, and nonchalant. They are more likely to make errors because they do not carefully check their work.
Enemies of Thoroughness:
- Haste: Being in a hurry will decrease our thoroughness every time. Being impatient and taking shortcuts will cause us to miss significant details.
- Lack of Preparation: When we fail to prepare ahead of time, we will cut corners and abandon our thoroughness as soon as we begin to run short on our resources, personnel, and time.
- Lack of Investment: If we are not invested in the project, we are less likely to be attentive to accuracy and details. We are more likely to settle for “good enough” if we are not committed to a particular outcome.
